Finish nailer on vinyl shoe molding

Can you use a finish nailer on vinyl shoe molding or will it split too easily?

The cellular(?) PVC vinyl yes, no prob. The hard "plasticy" stuff..yes with stipulation..it can split and shatter if too near the ends.

On both you need to practice a bit with your pressure and depth settings.

byw...I know you said finish nailer..but in this case a brad gun (18 ga) would be plenty. All you're doing is fastening the shoe to the base...1" nails should be more than long enough. Now..if it was 1/4 round....might be different.

How?

How would it be different with 1/4 round?

It is an 18ga nailer/stapler.

Quarter round is thicker and might need a longer nail to secure it to the baseboard.

A brad nailer like you have is going to be less likely to cause a split than hammering in a finish nail
