Mahagony Walls

I have a couple of mahogony panels in my house. I'm not sure whether to strip and restain or paint them. I want to update the house but not ruin the original look of the house. It was built in 1964. Thanks for any suggestions.

Welcome to the forums Vicki!

Personally I wouldn't paint them.... or at least make that my last resort. It would probably be difficult to find new paneling of that quality.

Unless they have been stained a darker color, you might not see much benefit from stripping and refinishing. A light sanding and a fresh coat of poly might do a good job of making them look new.

If you do paint, you'll need to sand, prime [solvent based] and 2 coats of finish [your choice]
