I recently received over 100 pieces of lumber. This lumber is appx 31/2X4X40 inches and as clean as can be. It was used as blocking for shipping pallets and is thrown away by the receiving company after the loaded pallets have been emptied. My wife wants to burn this in our fireplace but I said no as it looks to have been treated. Is there a testing kit available to check for chemicals in this stuff or do I just say NO and use it to expand my work bench etc?
Since there is a slight green tinge to the lumber, I say it's treated but my wife doesn't believe me so what I'm really looking for is proof that it has been treated and is unsuitable for burning.
Any and all suggestions are welcome and Thanks! in advance for your replies.
James

lumber

sounds to me like this is pressure treated. You do not want to burn this indoors. Most lumber is chemically treated.
