Wall trim for this?

The thickness of the garage wall plus the thick drywall is abt 1/2 proud of the door trim. How do I fix this? Cut a small piece of trim to attach to the door trim to make it flush with the wall?

The door should usually be installed with the hinge side flush with the interior side of the wall. A 1/2" filler can then be added to the opposite (exterior) side of the jamb.

this is an exterior door to the garage. so i should remove the trim on the garage side, push it in flush with the interior, then use a filler strip and reattach the trim pieces??? so that's how it's done? thanks, after i've put many doors on the house.
