We are redoing our kitchen- putting in new baseboards bc the old ones were rubber. The new baseboards are taller than the ones in the living room. How do we transition from taller to short baseboards? We will eventually redo all baseboards in home to match new ones in kitchen but in meantime trying to have it look more finished/cohesive. Pictures included.
There really isn't anything you can do that wont look odd, just put the new piece there and it will then be a great motivator to get the rest of the house done!
I am running a bit low on budget and mdf seems quite pricey locally for 8' planks.
the local store has spf 1x6x8 grade 1&2 for a good price but I'm wondering if I can use this for baseboard or if it will be a bit rough? I usually use pine and seal the knots then prime...
The baseboard was "placed" in back of our toilet/sink in our tiny bathroom without finishing nails just placed against the dry wall. I needed the toilet and sink put back in quickly and the plumber didn't have finishing nails for the baseboard. The baseboard stays in place, but I'd like to secure it and caulk it.
So what to do? I can barely squeeze between the toilet and wall/sink to do anything. I was thinking a quick drying glue to squirt behind the baseboard. I wouldn't mind sitting in the floor in front of the toilet facing the wall with my legs holding pressure on the baseboard for ??? 15 - 30 minutes, for the glue to dry.
Other ideas, or what glue to use?
