I'm planning to install a 3/4" (maybe 5/8") T&G beaded board ceiling on my porch. I don't want to use paneling since the seams will forever show. I'm not sure whether to glue and nail through existing blue board or to remove the blue board nail directly to the ceiling joists. If removing the old sheet rock is the answer, do I need to make sure all end joints are aligned under a joist?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cool

Randy,
Your porch ceiling will be exposed to exterior air moisture, so you don't want to glue anything.
Pop chaulk lines along your joists.
Nail all ends half on the joists.
Stagger the boards. Should turn out fine.
Good Luck! Mike

Thanks Mike. I like your suggestion. I wasn't looking forward to taking the sheet rock down. The mess and disposal problems are a nightmare.

Thanks again!
