Question

The only instructions for installing chair rail I have found state that the height is 32".

With my baseboards being 8" wide, the area between the top of the baseboards and the chair rail seems too narrow.

Does anyone ever install it higher? My ceilings are 8'8".

Aseret,
Chair rails were originally developed/created to protect the walls from the chairs in the room. I have rails at 33 an 27 inchs in two differen rooms.
I don't suppose raising the rails a couple inches will be that noticeable.
Whatever looks right to you.
