pacifier causing pimples?

Our 9 day old has little red pimples on his chin and a few on his upper lip. This started after giving him a few hours here and there with a pacifier. This kid loves to feed (nursing) and was over 11lbs at birth. I am trying not to use the pacifier as I thought it trapped moisture on his lip/chin and is causing the pimples. (most likely moms hormones in his system too).

Can the pacifier be causing this OR aggravating it?

Can you wash with a soap to help?

Any thoughts?

Thanks: e3

This sort of skin problem is normal in newborns. I think your pediatrician will advise you to leave it alone other than normal skin cleansing.

Pacifier Rash

Be sure to choose a sturdy one-piece model with ventilation holes. Without the holes, baby's saliva can collect behind the base causing a skin rash. Keep in mind, that one size doesn't fit all; there are shorter, smaller versions available for use during the early months.

I think we bought a newborn one (NUK brand) with the holes at the top. Also I think there may be one (new brand) that has holes all around. We may have to rethink the size. He is only 10days old now but was 11lbs 2oz at birth. Bruiser! Peace: e3

all kids are different - i have twins and their skin is very different, one is more sensative than the other and had pimples for a couple months.

we wash their faces with very mild soap - we use a generic version of some fancy stuff. in short it is not harsh on their skin.

sit back an relax (yes right) enjoy the little one because they do grow up faster than you can imagine!!!!!
