With your encouraging words back in June,I r&r'd the heater core on my 82 el camino. Went pretty smooth,thanks so much. I've got a worsening noise in my a.c. comp.,looks handy enough.Could I do this job and then have it charged w/ freon somewhere? Any problem draining the system for me? 1982 El Camino 350 new rebuilt - original 4.4 litre engine,w/orig. a.c. (Expensive part?) You're doing great with your info, thanks again sixes

well you should take it to a shop have it evacuated and then replace the compressor, drier, and orfice tube then return it to a shop and have it filled, the parts shouldnt be that expensive on that model and you will probably need some a/c oil cause alot of compressors are shipped dry, and you should also soak any orings that you are installing in the oil prior to installing, and any fitting you take loose make sure you put a new oring on.
