Reading trouble codes

I have a 94 Mazda B2300 2.3L 2wd 5-spd exteded cab truck. I have recently noticed a decrease in power and a decrease in gas mileage. I have referenced my Chilton manual under Driveability, troubleshooting codes, but am left with no answer. The manual says that you can perform a field test by jumping the Self-Test Input (STO) connector to the signal return pin on the diagnostic connector and counting the flashes on the check engine light. The diagnostic connector has several pins, does anyone know which one is the signal return pin?

Thanks
Bill

A '94 B2300 is nothing more than a re-badged Ford Ranger. See the link below for test procedures.
