ford aspire 94 alternator problem

I broke the head off the bolt while attempting to rplace my alternator. (lower hinge) My mechanic indicates that the timeinng belt cover may have to be removed. Is there another option?

Have a look at the autolibrary link in my signature file to see the R&R procedures and what you are up against.

You can probably use a bolt extractor to get the broken bolt out and retap it if need be.

Is there enough room to get a drill in there? If so, drill the bolt and use an extractor (easy-out) to remove the broken bolt. Keep in mind, if the bolt is in there sooooo tight that it broke the head off trying to remove it, you will want to use a bit closest to the thread size as possible that will still allow enough of the old bolt for the extractor to grab onto without damaging the internal threads.
