78 Ford Pickup has no backup lights. Ran down cable to dash board. Tail lights work. does it have a relay somewhere on the column or transmission? HELP!!!

I also own a 78 Ford Pickup and have had problems with the ground connection in the light socket themselves. A good way to check it is with a meter. You can verify that voltage is there and also for continuity between ground (its the outside of the bulb) and the truck frame. Of course if both lights are out it may be the switch hooked on the column. I'm not sure on that, maybe another member will have some insight on that.Good Luck.

I agree.

Check your bulbs and socket grounds closely. On old vehicles like this, they turn to dust in a heartbeat from age and wear.

Barring that, a bad backup light/neutral safety switch or a misadjusted one/wiring problem.
