need help getting my axle off

i have a 1984 Pontiac 6000 i need to remove the driver's side axle so that i can replace it. i have the caliper off and the rotor how do i get the center nut off to get to the axle?

You need a large socket to remove it. You can buy them in sets from Sears/Craftsman or Autozone can rent you the socket for free.

Lisle Tool Company also makes the right socket for taking the nut off.

Should be a 30 mm socket on this era GM FWD.

Chad,
That large nut can get pretty tight, it might help to loosely bolt the wheel back on and lower it to the ground to break that axle nut loose
