mercedes benz fuel economy

I have a 1985 380SE Mercedes Benz and recently (virtually overnight) the miles/gallon dropped from 20 down to 15. This is accompanied by increased blue smoke in the exhaust and the last 4-6" of the tailpipe havng a wet look. I changed the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, oil and filter, and air filter but the problem persists. Plugs removed, and tailpipe, indicate a rich fuel mixture. Any suggestions on the cause of this sudden loss in MPG and nasty exhaust?

If the smoke is truly blue, it is burning oil. Engine rebuild time

Make sure the crankcase vent hoses are not clogged, misrouted or disconnected.
