1992 Ford F-150

My buddy has a 1992 Ford F-150 with a V-8. Problem was when it would be running if he would switch on the lights the engine would immediately die. Just the engine. He had the alternator checked out and autozone told him it was fine. This morning it did it again. Today it started dying even without turning on the lights. It would die right after he took it out of park. He says it makes a funny noise when he accelerates. I think may be the a/c making that noise though. I would really apreciate someone's help with this. Thanks again guys.

Sounds like a wiped alternator bearing/bad alternator.

Do a voltage output check as per my "The Basics" below and tell us what you get.

Also, what is the "funny noise"? What does it sound like?
