Mecury Cougar Tires Size (One Size or Two)

I am looking for two tires for my 99 Mercury Cougar. The size that came on it when a purchased the car as well as the last set I put on were 215/50/R16. I was told this was the only tire that would work on this car. However, I have been tire shopping online and the sites are saying that in addition to that size 215/60/R16 will work as well and for a much better price. Does anyone here know?

No. Use the OEM tire size.

The speedometer and odometer are affected otherwise as well as chances of rubbing and clearances when you don't use the OEM tire size. It could also set the check engine light on a newer car if it was deviant enough.
