How often...

How often should a battery be replaced in a car. How many cold cracking amps are needed?

I have a 1997 TOyota Avalon

Use the battery manufacturer's catalog or the ratings on the old battery (If an original one) to determine the size needed. Most batteries out there are upgrades against the originals they replace anyhow...at least this is what I have seen with AC Delco (which is the replacement I recommend).

Batteries last from 4 to 8 years depending on a lot of factors. If you live in a cold climate I would say every 4 years or so for a new battery.
