1989 Toyota Van Oil Pan Gasket

Greetings,

Well after replacing one gasket another decided it needed some attention.

The wife called me at work today and told me that oil was quickly leaking out around the oil pan. Now a crossbar runs right underneath the oil pan.

I will check the chiltons tonight (for lack of a better reference guide) and see if they have a procedure for replacing the gasket (somehow I doubt it as that would be usefull information). I was wondering however if anyone has done this before and could walk me through it.

Many Thanks!
Neil

Here's the procedure courtesy of
Alldata.

Disconnect battery ground cable.
Raise and support vehicle.
Drain engine oil.
Remove left and right stiffener plates.
Disconnect oil level sensor, then, if necessary, remove oil level sensor, if equipped.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts, then the oil pan.

The labor guide allows 2.9 hours to R&R the oil pan & gasket.

Thanks!

Thanks for the walkthrough Knuckles! Much appreciated.

Another question for you do you think Alldata is worth purchasing?

Yes, and better yet the factory OEM manual. Better in the long haul...always is.
