1991 dakota A.C. ?

I install a junkyard compressor on my dakota truck also new orfice block too. Pulled a vaccum no leaks. put in 3 cans 134a freon. pressure gauges would go up to 50 pounds or so but as each can emptied i would get negative pressure. What would cause this negative pressure a blockage or compressor bad maybe . I figured compressor was good as the old one you could turn over with 1 finger but this one was harder and seemed to make pressure if i put fingers over holes and turned over. Just wanted some expert advice before i waste 3 more cans on another one. thanks 4 n e help

Whoa Nelley.

1) Junkyard compressors are just that, junk. Get a new one or quality rebuilt.

2) You must drain out all of the old R12 oil and replace it with compatible oil.

3) You should change the orifice screen as well.

4) R134A charges are less than original R12 charges as far as amounts of refrigerant go.
