spedometer won't work

I have a 1995 SAAB 9000CS, I recently had to replace the fuel pump (don't know if this will matter), anyway, the fuel pump was replaced a week ago, just this morning my spedometer stopped working. this vehicle is manual transmission, along with the spedometer, the car will not show any mileage accumulated and my shift signal won't work either (a little symbol that says shift up when I need to shift up) this symbol comes up when I first start the car, like everything else, but that is it. I know that it has nothing to do with the fuses, those have been checked already. Can anybody help me out there? I bought this car in March, used, and I believe that it sat for a long time. it has done nothing but fallen apart since May, I thought I would add that little bit of information just in case someone wants to take pity on me. Thank you.

Possible speed sensor problem. You might bring it back to the guy that did the work to see if anything was left off or loose.
