I have a 1996 Plymouth Neon 4cyl. SOHC.

OK, here's another question. My speedometer stops working now. Not all the time. It just seems to happen when it is hot out (85+) or if I have been pushing her too hard too fast. Any ideas? Is it my alternator possibly?

Many times it is a bad speed sensor/distance sensor.

Check the autolibrary link below to see if they have anything on it.
