thuderbird door latch

My drivers door won't open on 1978 Thunderbird! Have tried working latch inside door with rod and operating mechanism with rod. Any suggestions?

Won't open from either the inside or the outside?

That is usually some major trouble. Have someone bang on the door while you pull around in there. Probably a bent or jammed latch...pretty rare.

In the past I have kicked open doors like that which are stuck. But a Ford T bird door is HUGE in that year .

Might choose to have a body shop handle it for you...just have them get it open and change the latch and lube up the mechanism really good.

Joe, Thanks. I have a karate trained 17 year old son who helped get it open. I lubed the mechanism and when you shut it from the outside it doesn't stick as often. I'll get a mechanism from my dealer of a reputable salvage yard and replace it.
