starter problems

I have a 1994 subaru impreza with a 1.8 liter sohc engine in it. The starter went bad recently, or so i thought. I bought a new one off of the internet and installed it, when i tried to start the car however, the same thing happened, it was dead. i took the starter up to nappa and had it tested and it worked fine. I cant figure out why it is not starting when the car is started. I would like to test the wires going to it to make sure that they are working but i dont know what to look for when i use the tester. please give me any suggestions you have, thanks.

If it's not a Subaru OEM rebuilt starter by Subaru, it's crap in most cases. Only the OEM rebuilts are of good quality.

It might spin freely off the car but under load it's dead. Rap on the body of the starter while someone hits the key. If it starts, bad starter.

Check your connections closely for tightness and corrosion.
