Bizarre slave cylinder leak
93 Ford ranger, 5 speed, 4 cylinder
Changed clutch, pilot bushing, and throwout bearing a few months ago. Did not notice you have to R&R tranny to change slave cylinder and was not having trouble with it at the time. Just worn out clutch. So didn't touch slave cylinder.
A week or two after the clutch change, clutch actuator ran out of fluid. Had to bleed and refill. This has happened 3 or 4 times since changing clutch and have pretty much determined the leak is inside tranny.
Strange thing is it only seems to leak out when sitting still for a day or three. Fluid level does not seem to change over the course of a day or two's regular driving. But then all of a sudden the resivoir is empty one day and no clutch operation.
What did I do to cause the leak? Why does it seem intermittent?

The slave or clutch cylinder itself is the likely cause of the leak in most cases...it should have been changed at the time the clutch was done.
