Starter relay burn out

The starter relay on my Mom's car has burnt out twice in a week. What would cause that?

What kind of vehicle? If we're talking about the solenoid, it could burn out from a bad starter...pulling too much amperage. It could also be bad connections, low battery voltage, excessive cranking time, poor battery cable condition, poor quality replacement solenoid, etc... Does the car seem to crank slowly?

It's a thing that looks like a fuse, but it's under the hood and not under the dashboard. The vehicle is a '93 Mercury Sable. Also, the starter was replaced recently.

Have you checked your wiring and cables for fraying and grounding out/touching metal?

I haven't had the time to get a good look at it, but I'll look for the things you mention. Thanks!
