Low Traction light 99 Lumina

I find that sometimes when I hit a bump while turning or if the road is slippery and I brake hard and skid,my Low traction light comes on.Can this just be a loose wire or is it a traction problem?
I have a 1999 Chevy Lumina V6 P/S P/B P/W A/C 50,000 miles.

read section 2 of your owner's manual

low trac light comes on to warn you of low traction conditions. Uses ABS wheel speed sensors to detect variation in road speed.

Most GM models will warn you of low traction during braking. If you have traction assist or control, there are some models that will warn you of a low traction situation under acceleration.

Sounds like your system is working properly.

Traction light

Thanks Otter,
I was not sure if it was a loose connection @ the sensor or mabey a ground. But since it only lumminated when I hit a pretty big bump while turning or if I took a turn too hard on a wet surface. So I guess its doing what it is supposed to do.Thanks for reassuring me.
