93 Saturn heater not working

Purchased 93 Saturn SC model, drove it home and heater worked fine. The next morning, no heater or fan operation. Fuses are good. Thinking about directly hooking up blower motor to battery. Will it be safe to give it a full 12V. And if the motor is good, do I look at the switch next?

Start with the links in autolibrary.org below. You might have a bad blower resistor.

No, do not hook up the fan directly. Hokey and asking for trouble.

Check for power at the motor, if there is power there replace the motor. If there is no power at the motor check for the switch outputs from the heater control. Also check for voltage at the switch and check the ground for the switch. If you have power, ground, and your outputs to the resistor replace the switch.
As Joe said do not wire your fan direct.
