Nissan A/C Compressor

I have a '97 Nissan Sentra 1.6 liter with about 90K miles. The A/C compressor locked up and will not rotate at all. Obviously, it burned the fan belt right off. I really do do not want to replace the compessor right now ( winter is coming and I would rather hold off on the 3-500 replacement cost).

Is there a way to bypass the compressor. A 34 1/2 inch belt is to short, a 36" belt is too long.

Comments and help are appreciated.

No, not really (at least effectively).

Besides the A/C compressor assists in the defrosting mode. Get it repaired.
