clutch

check under dash where pedal adjustment is,there is a engine start switch,Maybe somthing disconnected when the pedal went down.On cable clutches the start switch is above the pedal arm like a pedal brake switch but your start switch may be on the transmission but check the pedal area anyway. Are you bleeding it correctly with a bleeder kit?One side of the friction plate is marked flywheel side so maybe you reversed it so the imbedded springs around the friction plate is getting in the way. Those springs are for easing shock to the transmission when clutch is engaged.
www.howstuffworks shows an excellent diagram of the pressure plate in action but you have to click through several pages of diagrams to get to it.
