'89 Blazer 350 engine/electrical problem

Okay, this is a wierd one.
A couple weeks ago my son's Blazer had some major work done: starter, coil, alternator, plug wires, etc. Things were okay for about two weeks. During the daytime the truck runs fine. But turn on the headlights and it acts like it's running on 5 or 6 cylinders - very rough with little power. It certainly appears to have some kind of short. Could this be an alternator problem when major elec is diverted to the lights?
Any suggestions??

What brand of alternator was used? If the original wasn't rebuilt by a competent person or a Delco rebuilt used, the problem probably lies in a faulty alternator.

Some off the shelf rebuilts are crap out of the box.

Thanks Joe,

That's what I'm suspecting. I know the new starter was AC-Delco.
We are going to have the alt checked today and probably have it replaced by our orig mechanic.
thanx,
fred
