Question gas needle guage

Hi, i have a 1988 buick regal with a 2.8 liter engine. I just bought this car and the gas guage does not work. I have checked all fuses i think. what would the fuse be listed under on the fuse panels? It says nothing in the book about the fuse for the gas guage. What should be my next step in solving this problem?

Bad float in the tank or a pinched ground wire from the sending unit.

It is probably the 10 amp indicator fuse, but if all your other gauges are working than that fuse is probably ok. Like Joe says the problem is more than likely back at the fuel sender. You will need to check for voltages and a good ground. Need to get a good wiring diagram and trace the circuit. the gauges themselves very rarely go bad. You could also try giving the bottom of the tank a couple of careful raps with your hand and see if you get any results. Try your local library for a good wiring diagram-the fuel gauge is a simple circuit.
