Question 1999 Toyota Camry

A friend of mine's 1999 Camry engine light is coming on. The dealer suggested that she replace the charcoal cannister. The cost for parts and labor are over $400. Is there any way to repair the cannister? I saw something on another site about using air pressure to blow it out... please help

No, and the problem may not be there. What codes are being set?

Also, most vehicles should be covered by the federal emission warranty (should be 5 years or 50k). If the canister is truly bad, the dealer needs to eat it as per federal warranty.
