1990 toyota 4-Runner noise

My very well maintained 1990 toyota 4-Runner has an intermittant noise, a very loud squeel that sounds like its coming from behind the dash, drivers side. It sounds like 2 rotating parts rubbing together, plastic on plastic, or metal. It's present at idle and at speed, with no difference. It's not related to steering or the heater fan. Can anyone give me a clue what it might be?

Check the blower motor closely. It could be a bad bearing in it. On some vehicles, it spins slowly no matter what the setting on the panel.
