1977 Dodge Pickup Changing Points

I never have changed out the points in an auto and I have this old 1977 dodge pickup with 318 motor. Just wondering if someone can give me some information that would help me change out the points. Thanks for any advise.

Most of these went electronic ignition about 1972, you must have one of the holdouts.....

Points have to be gapped and installed properly to work. I suggest you hit a local library and get a hold of a Chilton or Haynes book. A picture's worth a thousand words on this one.

I also suggest you install a Petronix electronic conversion kit in the future and rid yourself of those pesky points. Not worth a wooden nickel. The Petronix kit is easy to install and eliminates the points and condenser.
