Daewoo Lanos brakes

Just got the front disc pads replaced on a 1998 Daewoo Lanos. Now there seems quite a bit of "free play" on the brake pedal before the brakes start working. If you hit the brakes hard, they work ok, just all this free play worries me a bit. There was some free play before the new pads, but I don't think this bad. (Not 100% certain as it's the wife's car)

Any opinions?

It sounds like your brakes need bled. If they were changed by a shop, you need to take the car back to them. They need bled, you have air in your brake lines and air is compressable, whereas brake fluid is not.

I agree. Or, by compressing the piston in the caliper during the repair, some fluid was lost.

Bring it back and have them repair it right.
