brake noise

I have an 89 chevy barreta. 4cyl. it has rear drum brakes. I notice that when the car sits over night when i start it u p and take off in the morning the rear brakes grind pretty bad. after i stop 3 or 4 times the sound is gone. it is much worse with the colder weather. i have noticed this on other vehicles to, with drum brakes. Is this just a normal sound. The brakes were replaced about 5 months ago and this noise just started creeping up because the nights are getting colder here in NY. thanks

Moisture getting absorbed into the shoes more than likely. Could be poor quality replacement shoes, all depends.
