mercury villager jumps while idle

I have a 95 mercury villager with 73000 miles on it. In the past month it has begun to jump forward when I am coming out of or going into a stop. This does not happen all the time and giving a quick press to the gas will get it to stop jerking and it is fine again. My husband thought it is water in the gas tank, but then thought might not be since when this happens the rpm guage also bounces up and down slightly. This happens when in both drive or reverse and happens when the engine is cold, just starting the trip, and warm from driving for a while. I don't know much about cars but any advice would be appreciated.

Possible torque clutch converter solenoid problem.

Drive it to a shop and have them go for a ride and put it on a scanner to see what codes if any come up and what they find.
