99 chevy lumina stereo

My stereo doesn't work. I can turn it on, change the station, the indicator even responds as though the signal is strong or weak, but i get no sound. Surely all of my speakers didn't blow out simultaneously and its obviously not the fuse since the stereo does get power. The problem must be in the wiring between the stereo and speakers, either it has become disconnected or fried. I can't seem to figure out how to remove the stereo from the dash, and i certainly can't determine what all the wires are under the dash. Any hel would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure of the relevance of the second post....

You should get a wiring diagram for the vehicle if you've determined that all of the simple things (fuses, plugs, etc) have been checked. Sounds like the radio itself is wiped.

Positive you don't have the stereo muted in any way?
