1993 Taurus Overheating
My daughter has a 1993 POS Ford Taurus with a 3.8L. She has had problems with it overheating. I have replaced the thermostat and radiator cap. This seamed to take care of the problem for a couple of weeks but then it overheated and I replaced the water pump. When I started it after the water pump, I discovered a blown head gasket(front). I put in a new head gasket and it has been overheating ever since.
I currently have the radiator out of the car thinking maybe is has an obstruction but it looks fine. Everything seams to be working (Ieven replace the temp. probe think that maybe it wasn't really getting hot).
There is no oil in the water and no water in the oil but I am loosing coolant.
We paid $1300.00 for the POS about 6 months ago so I don't feel that I have lost my $#%@^ but I have already sunk a couplke of hundred in it and am wondering if it is worth continuing.
You not hgoing to believe this but this problem is very similar to the jthompson T-bird. Coinsidently J. Thompson is my name... weird huh....

Unfortunately it was worth 1300 for a reason . These are wicked heaps.
Bad trannies, known gasket blowers. Not worth bus fare .
As Knuckles stated, the other cooling system items have to be checked. If the gasket blows the heads must be sent to a machine shop for R&R and inspection.
