'91 Lumina will not start

Hi, I have a 91 Lumina that will not start. It's the 3.1L 6-cyl. Recently, the car would not start and we had it towed to the mechanic. After half way through his testing, the car started. It's been fine every since (about 2 monthss), but it has started the same thing again.

The car turns over strong, but just doesn't start. I've replaced the fuel filter from before thinkingit could be clogged. I'm suspecting that the mechanic from before checked all the basics, like grounds, corrosions, sparks , icm, etc.

Any ideas where to go next would be appreciated. I really hate the idea of taking it back in for fear the same results.

Don't assume he did. This is the place to start (use my "the Basics" post below).
