Jeep Steering Damper

My son has a 98 Jeep Wrangler SE (4 cyl). The dealer told him that his steering damper was bad (occasional violent shaking when driving) and should be replaced at a cost of $150. He finds that the part is available for about $35 at an after-market parts retailer. We are both reasonably handy and are thinking about a DIY project.

Is changing it much of a job?

Are there any adjustments to be made or does it just bolt on?

Any special tools required?

If you have ever changed a shock it's the same process. It's the same process because a steering damper is just a shock. You can do it yourself with some simple hand tools. Two crescent wrenches will get it done, but a deep well socket and a crescent wrench will help on the stud end.

The installation is very simple, and self explanitory. But if you need help post another message. We'll help you out.
