backfire when accelerating

73 scout II 304 engine v-8 AT. Runs great cool. backfires up into the carburetor when it warms up. rocker arms making alot of ticking after it warms up. Could this be a sticking valve problem? Oil pressure is normal. Thanks.

Maybe it is time to adjust valves tappets which you should do when you hear the ticking noise.
