Heaater Core for Toyota Pickup

I have a 92 Toyota Pickup, 2.4L 4cyl engine. The heat doesn't work, although the blower and a/c do. I also smell antifreeze when I get out of the vehicle. How do I replace the heater core? Is this something an average do it yourselfer can do?

Worn piston rings and oil burning and other engine problems that don't allow the combustion chamber to get hot enough to transfer sufficient heat down to the rad and heater rad can cause low or no heat from the heater and by the year of your car it may be your problem. The combustion chamber is where most of your heat comes from.

Start with the basics, correct engine temp and thermo operation.

That has a water valve...does the cable operate it? does it flow water, Blend door operation etc. Could be clogged heater core.

Never seen oil burning or combustion chamber deposits cause poor heat.
