Transmission Problems

I Have a 1994 Chrysler New Yorker with a 3.5 V-6. While on the road transmissin down shifted. I was able to drive it to a safe location. We have had a mechanic look at it and he said the transmission would have to replaced. It will shift from 1st gear to 2nd gear but not shift any higher. Is there any other possible reason for this except for a faulty transmission?????? Need Help!

Most likely internal failure or a stuck shift solenoid.

A competent tranny shop should be able to diagnose it for you.

Those cars are very lackluster in the quality department

Found out it was the transmission, The second and third gears were stripped out. It was funny to find out that when that type of transmission goes out it will go into a limp mode. Thanks for the help.
