1993 Hyundai Sonata

I have a 93 Hyundai Sonata that wont go over 30 miles per hour. I took it to a mechanic to get looked at and he said that it needs a new or rebuilt transmission that would cost $1200.00, but the car itself is only worth about $700.00. But I do know that the car does need a new idle speed control motor, which I bought, but never had installed. Can anybody help with this?

Check the tranny fluid for the condition and if it's full or not. Start there.

If the car lacks POWER it could have a stuffed catalytic converter.

If it needs a tranny, pitch it without a second thought. These cars aren't worth bus fare, especially at ten years old.
