T-Bird Stop light

My 94 bird has the 3157 bulbs in the stop lights. It is not a round socket but rectangular. The contacts must be bad because it keeps burning the little wires on the bulb and loses contact. Tryed to buy a new socket but canot find one. Ford will sell the whole harness for $150. Any ideas out there?

Nearly any good auto parts stores should have a socket & pigtail assy. in stock. Check with a NAPA or Car Quest store.

Alternatively, Ford will sell you the empty socket and a connector kit.

Knuckles is correct.

Most OEM's excepting GM make you go through an erector set to make up a socket. GM/Delco offer finished pieces.

The aftermarket companies follow the lead like Delco and provide the complete unit. Go with that.

I'm sorry. Forgot to tell you none of the parts stores carry any sockets for this type bulb. That is my problem. It is not the ordinary round socket.

These sockets ARE available from the aftermarket. I'll check at my local Car Quest store on Monday & get you a part number.

The empty socket & terminal kit is available from Ford. Find a parts counterperson who knows how to use the parts manual.

Try having a look at part #S-547 in CARQUEST.

It is the wedge type 3157 bulb socket. Compare to your original. Looks like the one.

Again, I agree with Knuckles.

S-547 is also Standard Motor Products # as well as a CQ number.

Simply find a parts store dealing in that company and it will be the same part...if you cannot find a local NAPA.

Got the socket at NAPA, took about half hour to install. It is fixed. Thanks to the experts that take the time to help us DIYS get things done.
