Protecting exposed metal in car scratches

I scraped our car against a concrete support post in our parking garage, and now have some deep scratches with exposed metal. Body shop estimate is over $800. Since I can't afford that right now, is there something I could rub or apply to the scratches that would protect from rust until I can afford to fix? Thanks!!

If the metal is rusty, POR15 is a great rustproofer that will work great to keep it Ok for a while.

Alternatively, just wax it for now. The longer you wait, the worse it will get so get it fixed ASAP.
