Replacing part

My brand new Honda (1,000 miles) developed a leak in the Rack and Pinion mechanism. The dealer said the factory did not have one and they would have to build one. Then I received a call from them saying they located one. I told them I want to be sure it is new equipment and not a used part. How can I determine if they used a factory new part or not?

I doubt there are even used parts on the market for this vehicle being it's so new.

The dealer is obligated by law to use new or factory remanufactured parts in your vehicle, not used ones.

If you don't trust the dealer, call American Honda and give them some lip.

Thanks Joe F. I met with the GM of the dealership and told him what I thought about this. I'll contact Honda to give the a heads up.
