I have a 96 ford contour that seems to bog down when you accelerate.(4 cyl. 2.0 L fuel injected)

Sounds like it's time for a tune up to me. When is the last time it saw a good tune up? Including fuel filter, air filter, pcv vlave (or clean it). test your codes or have them tested, your O2 sensor needs replaced if it has never been replaced.

That would be a good start, even if it doesn't cure the problem it will make your car get better milage.

The fuel filter will also help your fuel pump live a longer life. People don't know how hard it is on the fuel pump to pump thru a dirty filter. Working hard means heat, heat kills.
