EGR Valve??

That model uses an electronic valve to my recollection..a trisolenoid valve.
Most of the time, fault would come through a scan tool, or you can alternatively take it off and clean it/inspect it for carbon coking. If it's heavily wiped out with carbon, it might not respond to cleaning it.
Barring that, look in autolibrary.org below and see if they have anything on it.

According to Chilton Autolibrary that model uses a digital EGR valve and requires a Tech 1®or equivalent scan tool.

(Waves to TowGuy)
Hello TowGuy from Sunny Florida.
Home of the former T.K. Records label that used to produce the KC and the Sunshine Band record label. I think they were in Hileah Florida.
I came across an old 1977 45 record of "Keep it Comin' Love". Those were some funky 70's clothes.
For the record, I was six in 1977
